If you apply common sense to your motor, things will become surprisingly clear.

Proper engineering and matching of components will promote efficiency, and longevity.

Putting a much larger wheel in a housing its not intended for is obviously going to change *something*. If you spend some time researching turbos, you'll understand more of what that *something* is. The difference between a rebuild and an aftermarket 'kit' is mainly that the turbo housings, in most cases, are better matched to the wheels inside them, than simply putting larger wheels in stock housings.

As morepower2 stated - the lack of diffusor in a turbo is going to create a more turbulant, hotter intake charge. Your intercoolers won't be able to get rid of all this heat - its going to cook the turbo, and the motor. You need to decide how much power you want to produce and then digest the cost of it. :)
